Tryouts:
The River City United Soccer Club of Decatur has
scheduled tryouts for their fall soccer season.
River City United is made up of the Raptors women’s
soccer club and the Revolution men’s soccer club.
The purpose of the River City United Soccer club
is to identify youth soccer players in the
individual age groups U9 up to U18 in the North
Alabama area who are able and interested in
developing their soccer skills to a high level. Our
regular season matches run from August 15th thru
October 21st.
Our home fields are the Jack Allen Recreation
Complex in Decatur. Visit our website at

information. Age groups are determined by the age of
the player as of August 1st.

RAPTOR CLUB GOALS
|
The purpose of the
RIVER CITY RAPTORS SOCCER CLUB is to identify
female youth soccer players in the individual
age groups U9 to U18 in the North Alabama area
who are able and interested in developing their
soccer skills to a high level. In providing
higher level club soccer for female athletes, it
is the intent of the River City Raptors Soccer
Club to raise the level of soccer participation
in the Decatur and North Alabama area at all levels, from Recreational to
the Olympic Development Program.

Decatur Teams Perform Well in State Cups
and Governor's Cups
9 of 14 Decatur soccer teams finish first or
second in State Cups & Governor's Cups. Several other teams
finished a close third and just missed being in the finals.

Raptors do well in College!
A number of former Raptors
players are playing soccer for their
university teams. But that's not the
only way to continue enjoying the sport.
Check out the Raptors team playing in
the
Intramural league at the University of
Alabama. Currently in first place,
the team includes Stephanie Varner, Meg
Adams, Haley, Kate Ann and Lindsey Hawkins
as well as Robert Varner who played for the
Decatur Revolution.
Row, Tide Row!
Stephanie Varner (Raptors ’90) is an
official member of the University of Alabama
Women’s Rowing Team and will be competing in
her first regatta Saturday, Oct. 18th
at Hobbs Island (South Huntsville, Ditto
Landing) in a Women’s Novice 8+ boat (8
rowers and the coxswain).

Raptors teams do well in Memphis!
- The Raptors '94 placed
second in the U16 2008 SoccerElite GRRRLS
tournament this past weekend in Memphis,
TN.
- The Raptors '93 team
placed third in that same U16 group.
- The '97 Orange team
finished third in their age bracket.

State
Championship
|
The Decatur High
School Girls won the 2008 Alabama 5A State
Championship with a thrilling 3-2 over-time win over Briarwood
Christian on May 10th. The team is
composed almost exclusively of Raptors U18, U16,
and U15 players and former players and coaches.
